Dilip Kumar had a fling with Vyjayanthimala after breaking up with Madhubala. He does not acknowledge the relationship though, for whatever reason.

Saira Banu THE QUEEN, THE LOVE OF MY LIFE... twitted Dulip Kumar

It was like a fairy tale romance for the ‘king of tragedy’ Dilip Kumar (aka Yusuf Khan) and Bollywood diva Saira Banu. As the former actress herself recalls and confesses, she was all in love with Dilip Kumar right from the age of 12. In a tabloid interview, Saira Banu said, “I was not just another girl smitten by Dilip Kumar. For me, it was no castle in the air because I had given my dream the strong foundation of faith-faith in myself and faith in God.”

However, it is quite a well-known fact that celebrity marriages never really go without controversies and Dilip-Saira's love story was no exception. In the 1980s, Dilip Kumar got entangled in a controversial love affair with Asma, a Pakistani lady. Two years later Dilip broke up with Asma and came back to Saira. Amidst all the ebb and flow of life, the two have stood beside each other like a rock, considering one another to be the greatest gift of God.

AMITABH BACHAN

AMITABH BACHAN

Son of well known poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan

born 11 October 1942.
He first gained popularity in the early 1970s as the "angry young man" of Hindi cinema

He completed his education from Uttar Pradesh and moved to Bombay to find work as a film star, in vain though, as film-makers preferred someone with a fairer skin, and he was not quite fair enough. But they did use one of his other assets - his deep baritone voice - which was used for narration and background commentary. He was successful in being cast in Saat Hindustani.

He got his break in Bollywood after a letter of introduction from the then Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi, as he was a friend of her son, Rajiv Gandhi. This is how Amitabh made an entry in Bollywood, starting with Zanjeer, co-starred with his future wife Jaya Bhaduri, and since then there has been no looking back.

Bachchan has won many major awards in his career, including three National Film Awards as Best Actor (a record he shares with Kamal Hassan and Mammootty), a number of awards at international film festivals and award ceremonies and fourteen Filmfare Awards.

He is the most-nominated performer in any major acting category at Filmfare, with 39 nominations overall. In addition to acting, Bachchan has worked as a playback singer, film producer and television presenter. He also had a stint in politics in the 1980s.

TheGovernment of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 1984 and the Padma Bhushan in 2001 for his contributions towards the arts.

It is with this last name that Amitabh debuted in films, and, for all public purposes, it has become the surname of all members of his family. Bachchan's father died in 2003 and his mother in 2007.

Amitabh - Rekha The unforgettable co stars...

Rekha one of the Darlings of Bollywood film industry co starred with Amitabh Bachan in many films, they were loved and admired by their fans, their closeness anticipated in all their films. The closeness brought rumours in the Indian Film world, rumour with can be defined as "often a mixture of truth and untruth".

Amitabh and Rekha's much-talked about love story always remained a mystery as both the actors never accepted it in public. While the two themselves have said very little, everyone else seems more than certain of the affair.
But real time facts associated with rumours circulated around; during the shoots of Ganga Ki Saugandh, Amitabh Bachan reportedly lost his temper on a co-actor who was misbehaving with Rekha. After this, their affair came in the lime-light and grabbed the media attention. The gossip mills started churning out stories of Rekha-Amitabh's affair. They even made headlines saying that Rekha and Amitabh have got secretly married.

Silsila was Amitabh and Rekha's last film together. It is believed that the real life story was shot in reel and it was sort of a coup for Yash Chopra who managed the casting of Amitabh, Jaya and Rekha. The film portrays the love triangle between the characters of Amitabh, Jaya and Rekha in the film. In an exclusive BBC interview, Yash Chopra admitted that the affair was definitely going strong before they began filming Silsila, which co-incidentally mirrored the real life drama. Chopra said, "I was always on tenterhooks and scared (during Silsila) because it was real life coming into reel life. Jaya is his wife and Rekha is his girlfriend and the same story is going on (in real life). Anything could have happened because they are working together."

In an interview given to Filmfare magazine in 1984, Rekha spoke about Amitabh’s denial of their relationship. She said, "Why should he have not done it? He did it to protect his image, his family, his children. Why should the public know of my love for him or his love for me? I love him and he loves me- that’s it! If he’d reacted that ways towards me in private, I would have been very disappointed.” She further added, “Mr. Bachchan is still old-fashioned. He doesn’t want to hurt anybody so why hurt his wife?”

But never he the Big B anywhere acknowledged Rekha's portrayal of their Love story.

Amitabh and Rekha- the two legends of Indian film industry still in the lime light.

BOLLYWOOD ACTRESSES

Top Ten Bollywood actresses of 2014

Deepika Padukone

# 1

  • On the Top Bollywood List 2014 according to

  • "alltoptens.com"

  • Deepika Padukone is an actress and model in Bollywood film world. She has established a successful career in Hindi films, and is cited in the media as one of the most popular and attractive Indian celebrities.

This 28 year given several blockbuster movies such as Om Shanti Om, Love aaj kal, Cocktail and very recent Chennai Express.

From ruling the ramp as a Supermodel to being hand-picked by the Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan to play dual roles in the 2007 blockbuster Om Shanti Om, she made optimum usage of all the opportunities and shone as Sandy and Shantipriya. A new superstar was born the day OSO released in 2007 and there was no looking back for this stunner.

She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark,( January 5, 1986)  Deepika’s father, ace badminton player Prakash Padukone moved back to Bangalore with his wife Ujjala when Deepika was just a year old.

Playing badminton was one of the first things she learnt. “I’d wake up at about five in the morning, go for training, go to school, return and go to play again. I was a very outdoor person, but I didn’t have a big circle of friends. Life was pretty simple,”        She is  5' 9" (1.74 m)                  Deepika says. “Well, borderline boring,” she laughs...
    .

The culture at home reflected a disciplined sportsman’s nature. Late-night parties or typical ‘teenage’ behaviour were not appreciated. “Dad didn’t understand why a party needed to start so late at night – the time one should go to bed! Dad would come to pick me sharp at 10, my deadline, if at all he allowed me to go anywhere!” So, even though they grew up as Prakash Padukone’s daughters, Deepika and her younger sister Anisha (now a national-level golf player) had completely ‘normal’ childhoods. “There were no unnecessary indulgences. Getting `5 as pocket money on a Wednesday and eating ice-cream or dosa in school with that money was a big deal.”
It was the same discipline that Deepika followed when she travelled for her badminton matches. No air tickets. Often, not even a train berth. She slept on the floor with her teammates if last-minute reservations were made.

    Mumbai  Film Industry...Bollywood

Mumbai, India's entertainment capital and home to Bollywood, is one of the most prolific centers of film production in the world. Yet there are so many misconceptions about the industry in the minds of even hardcore cinephiles that before describing what is Bollywood, it becomes an imperative to describe what is not Bollywood.
Bollywood is not a name for the Indian filmmaking industry; it is a name for the country's Hindi film industry. Films are made in various other languages in India, and each language's industry carries its own name (such as "Tollywood" and "Kollywood").
Claims are often made that Bollywood is the biggest filmmaking industry in the world, which is incorrect. The Indian film industry is the biggest in the world, with the American counterpart placing third — behind Nollywood, Nigeria's equivalent. According to India's censor board, more than 1600 films were produced in the country in 2012. Even in India, Bollywood is not the biggest industry in terms of output. Last year, more films were produced in Tamil (262) and Telugu (256) than in Hindi (221).
Nevertheless, when it comes to global presence, box-office sales and far-reaching influence, Bollywood's might exceeds that of India's other film industries, and Mumbai's of other cities. To understand the true scale of this dominance, it is useful to look at the past and present of Mumbai.
Mumbai has long been one of India's foremost centers for arts and culture, being one of the biggest sites of the country's theater scene in the 19th and early-20th centuries. However, the reach of theater was limited in India in that era, and still is. The limited mobility of the performers -- and their acts with them -- ensured theater was never a mass phenomenon. Literature was handicapped in trying to penetrate the populace too; the high rate of illiteracy combined with segmentation of the few literates into different languages meant it was hard for a book or novel to serve as a binding fabric.
Thus, cinema -- not bound by the constraints of mobility or literacy -- reached and satisfied the Indian public in a way no prior medium had. From that time to today, cinema has been the most popular platform of mass media in the country. (Thanks to IndieWire)

  • Mumbai  Film Industry...Bollywood

  • The masala film – the quintessential Bollywood entertainer – burst onto the scene only in the 1970s. And audiences were enthralled by the histrionics of actors such as Rajesh Khanna, Sanjeev Kumar, Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh, Tanuja and others.

This was Bollywood’s heyday, a time when director Ramesh Sippy gave  his iconoclastic Sholay (1975). The film, which has been internationally acclaimed, also clinched the title of ‘superstar’ for Amitabh Bachchan, who already had well over 30 films under his belt by then.

The 1980s saw the rise of several woman directors such as Aparna Sen, Prema Karnath and Meera Nair. It was also the decade when sultry siren Rekha wooed audiences with her stunning performance in Umrao Jaan (1981).
